Jakub and Jan are happy to announce that the HARRIS CREEK RACE IS ON. This Saturday, March 04, the race will
be starting at 10 am. The last rain brought the creeks and rivers up enough for us to have the race. (more…)

Sometimes you just get lucky! As paddlers proliferate, classic first decents are becoming more and more of a rarity in the world-at-large. However, once again, our beloved Vancouver Island has come through for us! (more…)

Hey Jan,

I didn’t include the historical Harris precipitation gauge in the model, since the assumption is that this data would no longer be available.

Here’s the latest significant parameters and their respective multipliers within the best model so far:

Carnation Flow: 0.9333
Cowichan Flow: 0.03818 (more…)

Jeff Strang, Jeff Lewis, stephen Hunt and I (Jan) ran the Chemainus this weekend and started talking about the idea Jeff Strang had to do a river clean up on the Cowichan. Being a Canadian Heritage River, we think that it would be a great oportunity for us to doa clean up day or weekend there. During the summer there are lots of tubers and other recreational users and due to the volume of people and the lack of volume of water, a lot of garbage is left behind.

Unfortunately, we are pretty late already and Jakub pointed out that a lot of the garbage might already have been washed away. However, it might be still worth while to do a clean-up. Shayne offered to help us organize it as an event under the name and support of the VIWPS. We should come up with a good date where a lot of people can show up.

Any ideas? I started a discussion in the Forum.

Cheers, Jan
