OK, I have not been very good at updating this lately. Anyways, here is the slideshow that I gave at the Puntledge River Fest about our trip to the Moyeha River. The Moyeha River constitutes the last unlogged watershed on Vancouver Island and is a truly amazing place. The trip took Jakub, Shayne and myself through the alpine and ancient rainforests. We crossed the watershed from the Bedwell River trailhead to Herbert Inlet. There we got a boat pick up from Shaynes dad (he is 72!) to Tofino. The wind was blowing at 25 miles which made for a wild ride back to Tofino.

Thanks especially to Shayne to organise the shuttle…you did an awesome job.

Find the pictures in the River Gallery under Moyeha River.

Where: The race will be held on the Puntledge River (Comox area), Vancouver Island.

The first Vancouver Island Creek Race was a lot of fun for everyone involved. The whole competition went really smooth and safe. A big thank-you goes to those racers that slowed down for safety or swimmers and assisted in their rescue. Especially Conor MacKenzie and Jakub Drnec stopped their races to assist other paddlers. Where: The race will be held on Harris Creek, Vancouver Island. If water levels are too high to safely run Harris, the race will held on Hemmingsen Creek. In case of low water, the race will be on the upper or middle Gordon.

When: Saturday, March 4th (updates at http://www.bc-ww.com ) (more…)

We tried to paddle the classic Upper Nanaimo River creek run today and found the gate to be closed. There was no operator anymore and a random person ionformed us that the access to that area is closed due to vandalism issues. This is very sad. We lost access to an ultra classic island run.
