Unfortunately, this is related to micro hydro as well. Conor McKenzie and I did the, to our knowledge,
first kayak descent of Muir Creek last Friday. We paddled this creek since it is on the fast track list of rivers
that are supposed to be damed up with micro hydro projects. The proposal for Muir Creek
is for a 5 cubic meters per second energy plant. Not only might this pristine valley get logged but
Muir Creek will most likely be forced into a steel pipe, changing the valley forever.

I will forward the logging concerns to the paddling community that I am sure will support the efforts to save
Muir Creek as a free flowing wilderness stream in a pristine valley.

Muir Creek is only one of hundreds of pristine creeks that flow through our fantastic BC wilderness that will
be changed forever by clear cut logging and forcing the rivers into steel pipes.

Thanks, Jan Dettmer

Man, what a day. That run came out of nowhere. My favorite drop was the last big slide into the hole and then over the small weir. Jakub was just a few metres in front of me and when i saw him disappear over the horizon line, I thought "well that seems to be a little steeper than from the scout". Awesome that the run slowly built up and ended with a bang.
Thanks to Jakub for insisting on doing the run.

Hi Stephen,

that sounds awesome. Have you ever tried to incorporate Tofino Creek?
Now we just have to figure out a way to access the data base for the real time data. Jakub, any news on that?

Cheers, Jan

I just got this from Tim Marks:

Hi Jan,
VCKC has done a large Cow River clean up the secound weekend in Oct. A couple pickup loads were taken to the dump.
Cheers
Tim

Thats great! I wasn't sure if the VCKC had already done it. So that leaves us with the planning for next year to get more paddlers and only the one club to help. I think the VIWPS would be a great way to involve more people.

Also, we might wanna look into other rivers. As JeffL mentioned, the Kok is really dirty.
Any ideas?
