Run description:
I only paddled the Eve once and was not overly impressed. The river starts out flat meandering it’s way through gravel bars with a lot of wood. We had to get out of our boats often. After what seemed a long flatwater section, we came to a section that started out with some grade 3 whitewater, getting harder (3+) as we proceded. We finally got to an obvious box canyon where we scouted a couple drops and walked two times. One time was around a drop that is definitely runnable (class 5) but we decided not to. The second time was around a sieve over a midstream boulder. Both channels were blocked off by wood.
There is also a portage around this whole short canyon section on river right. After this the run mellows out soon, then goes flat for a long time.
(I should add: we put on the river at 7 pm after having done a lot of paddling that day. This might have been a factor in not appreciating the rivers flatwater.)
This river should have water when the Adam River canyon has a good flow.
