Run description:
The upper upper is a grade IV (+) (V) run. To get to the put in fallow the directions to the upper. after crossing the bridge stay right, you will quickly cross another smaller bridge, (thats the gold river) the take out for the unrunable section is on the first conrer at the bridge. The take out for the upper upper is about 10km up the logging road there will be a small pull out on the left, and the road will start going to the right. About 50 feet before this there is a small wooden plaque with a kayaker on it. hike down the trail to the river and mark the take out. Keep fallowing the road another 10km or so and stay left untill you cross the river thats the put in.
The run is strait forward pool drop grade 4 with one grade V box canyon call the poop shoot, and the undercut at the end sent one person for a very bad swim!! It will hold you under water! so when you see the river narrow a lot! get out and look at it on river right. its a very easy drop, to walk. A few drops latter there is a blind horizone line, thats also worth looking at, on river right.
with the gauge being more than 35km away its a little hard to tell, but you can run the section as low as 45cms and has been done as high 175cms. The more water the sportier it becomes.
