Run description:
The Heber is a classic low volume pool drop creek that goes through the town of Gold River. It has 2 very tight canyons, the upper canyon being the easier one. The upper canyon ist mostly class 4 with fun, clean drops. Scouting is hard on some drops, so be extra careful with waterlevels and wood. The second canyon is a step up, class 4+. It has a few significant drops, one being solid to hard class 5. I think the drop has not been run. It is a 5 m falls into a very tight slot, lots of water lands on a rockshelf, the left is a sieve. We walked on river right through a crack in the rock and seal launched from a 3-4 m high boulder into the lower part of the rapid.
Be careful with the waterlevel since the portage might get iffy. Inbetween the canyons is a boney flatwater section that is not too bad after all. In the lower canyon there are lots of undercuts.
