Run description:
This is a good intermediate river for those wanting to get off the Cowichan and prepare for the Gordon. Monastery drop is the first big drop and can be scouted on the right. The right channel of the ‘fish ladder’ drop should not be run as there is rebar in it that is only visible at low water. The left channel is runnable (4+) or the whole drop can be portaged on the right side. This drop is recognizable by an island in the middle of the river and concrete blocks making up the fish ladder. There are some other good rapids and there is a long (15-20 minute) paddle out at the end.
