Run description:
This run has some potential but access issues and quite a bit of wood make it almost not worthwhile.
The Valley the Meades Creek is in is spectacular. The river has tight canyons and boulder fields with some fun drops especially in the upper section. It never gets harder than easy class 4. If there wouldn’t be the wood issue, high waterlevels could make this a very fun and fast run. However, the extensive logging in the watershed caused some significant wood in the river. One stretch in the lower third of the run has a significant logjam that blocks the whole canyon. It is only a short stretch but also contains some of the funnest whitewater. If you get to a canyon section after a long stretch of gravel bars, check for the logjam before you go into the canyon. We walked it at riverlevel but this may not be possible at a higher flow.
We were lucky and found the gate open. However, we were lucky to get the car out before it got locked again.
