Run description:

Only the lower half of Moakwa has been paddled to our knowledge. The put-in was on a deactivated logging road on river left. It is most likely that you will find a better put-in on the river right, where there is a bridge at some point. That put-in would make this run about twice as long. The gradient still looks good in the upper part.

The run is quite enjoyable with mainly boulder gardens intersected by a few tight bedrock drops. In 2004, there were a couple log jams on this creek that required portaging. One old growth log blocked an otherwise clean 20 feet waterfall. The Creek is very scenic and can be combined with other great runs in the area that all guarantee excellent springtime paddling.
